Tributes are flowing in for a UK tourist who tragically passed away while vacationing in Thailand. Philip Howell, who hailed from Strathfoyle, Co Derry, Northern Ireland, breathed his last on November 6. McLaughlin Funeral Directors described him as the beloved son of Doris, loving partner of Julie, and cherished brother of Sharon, Jane, Sarah, and Megan, as well as a devoted uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. On social media, Philip, who had been residing in the Waterside area of Derry, was remembered as “a true gentleman” and a “sound, decent fella.” Strathfoyle Community Association also paid their respects, stating: “We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Philip Howell tragically while on holidays in Thailand on 6th of November 2024. May he rest in peace.”
Colleagues at Seagate Technology expressed their sorrow, describing Philip as “a loved and much respected member of the team.” Friends shared their fond memories, with one tribute expressing: “Our hearts are forever broken. RIP brother until we meet again.” Another tribute mentioned, “Such a sound, decent fella…fond memories of our time at St Brecans…RIP Howelly…our thoughts and prayers are with you Sharon and all the family circle.”
