Balmforth, who hails from Burnley, was hanging out at a pub in Manchester, which was apparently the designated away spot for Burnley fans. Things got heated between the fans, and Balmforth decided to throw a punch at a Blackpool supporter named Tony Johnson. Not cool, man. Not cool at all.
After the punch, Johnson was rushed to the hospital but sadly didn’t make it. The court didn’t take too kindly to Balmforth’s actions and slapped him with five years in the slammer. On top of that, he’s banned from football grounds for nine years. Talk about a rough day, huh? Not really sure why this matters, but eight other guys involved in the brawl will be sentenced later on.
