This comprehensive approach aims to strengthen the digital infrastructure of entire communities and maximize the impact of the grant.
The ICP, managed by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), aims to provide reliable broadband access to residents and business owners in rural areas. Since its inception, the program has allocated over $9.5 million to help internet service providers connect remote addresses across Indiana.
Surf’s success in securing funding was attributed to its proactive community outreach and education efforts. By hosting informational events and leveraging various communication channels, Surf was able to raise awareness about the program and assist over 600 residents in applying for the grant. Residents at the grant-funded addresses can expect to receive service within nine months from the contract date. They will receive a letter with FAQs and next steps, including a required “Consent for Access to Property” form. Construction updates will be available on Surf Internet’s website as the projects progress.
