Ruben Amorim had his first day as the new head coach of Manchester United at Carrington. He had a successful farewell at Sporting, leading the team to a 4-2 victory over Braga. On Monday, he arrived in Manchester with five members of staff who will be joining him at United. They were greeted by key staff members, including chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox.
The training ground at Carrington is currently undergoing a £50 million upgrade this season. Amorim was given a tour of the facility before meeting with key staff members later in the day. The first-team squad members who were not on international duty were also expected to be present at Carrington on Monday.
Amorim had a meeting with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who recently completed a four-game stint as caretaker manager with three wins and a draw. Van Nistelrooy expressed his desire to stay on the coaching staff under Amorim, but it has been confirmed that he and fellow assistant Rene Hake, goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and analyst Pieter Morel have left the club.
Although Amorim had meetings with staff on his first day, he will not be able to start coaching until his visa arrives. The process is expected to be completed swiftly, allowing him to get on the grass at Carrington and begin his coaching duties. United is looking forward to the new era under Amorim and the fresh perspective he will bring to the team.
