Serial Shoplifter Banned from Cheshire Oaks
In a bid to combat rising concerns over shoplifting, Jason Lee Evans, a 33-year-old serial shoplifter with no fixed address, has been handed a three-year criminal behaviour order (CBO) at Chester Magistrates’ Court. The ban prohibits Evans from setting foot in the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet and the Coliseum Shopping Park area of Ellesmere Port.
Concerns Raised by Authorities
Cheshire Police, North Wales Police, and Cheshire West and Chester Council all collaborated in raising concerns about Evans’ repeated shoplifting offenses. Identified as the culprit behind numerous theft incidents, Evans’ actions prompted the Ellesmere Port Anti-Social Behaviour Unit to seek a CBO against him.
Strict Conditions Imposed
The CBO mandates that Evans adhere to several stringent conditions, including leaving any retail premises upon staff or security’s request, refraining from entering previously barred stores, and avoiding concealing items in carrier bags or other articles. Additionally, he is barred from entering stores that are part of the Business Crime Reduction Partnership.
Police Response and Community Reassurance
PC Alex Johnson of Cheshire Police expressed gratitude for the court’s decision, emphasizing that the CBO reflects the tireless efforts of law enforcement in combatting criminal activities. Johnson hopes the ban serves as a deterrent to potential offenders, providing reassurance to local retailers and residents that authorities are actively addressing community safety concerns.
If anyone spots Evans violating the terms of his CBO, they are encouraged to report him to the authorities. Reports can be made online to Cheshire Police or by calling 101. Alternatively, individuals can choose to provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
