Tevita Pangai Junior’s decision to leave the NRL and join a Super League team has shocked fans and experts alike. After announcing his retirement from rugby league last year to pursue a boxing career, Pangai Junior signed with the Queensland Cup side Souths Logan Magpies in February. Later in June, he was signed by Wayne Bennett and the Dolphins for the remainder of the season.

Under Bennett’s guidance, Pangai Junior displayed some of his best form, leading to speculation that he might join the Rabbitohs next year. However, due to salary cap constraints, this plan fell through. Instead, he has agreed to a one-year deal with French club Catalans Dragons, where he will join players like Luke Keary, Elliott Whitehead, and Nick Cotric for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the Brisbane Broncos are reportedly eyeing a move for Bulldogs playmaker Toby Sexton as they plan for life after Adam Reynolds. Sexton, who has been in excellent form this season, was let go by the Titans last year but has found success with the Bulldogs under coach Cameron Ciraldo. His strong game management and kicking prowess have been instrumental in the Bulldogs’ climb up the ladder.

In other news, Canberra Raiders dummy-half Danny Levi has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs. Levi, who has played in all 19 games for the Raiders this season, has seen a decrease in playing time since being replaced at starting hooker. Despite signing with the Raiders in 2023, Levi’s future with the team remains uncertain as he considers his options for the upcoming seasons.
