Vietnam Airlines, based in Ho Chi Minh City, recently welcomed its newest addition to the fleet, the fifth Boeing 787-10 aircraft. This marks the 30th widebody aircraft for the airline, showcasing its commitment to growth and increased connectivity. In addition to the Boeing 787-10s, Vietnam Airlines also operates 11 Boeing 787-9s and 14 Airbus A350s in its widebody category.
The airline’s widebody planes are primarily used for flights to various destinations such as Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, the US, and domestic routes like Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. The latest Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner features a two-class configuration with 24 business class seats and 343 economy class seats, emphasizing passenger comfort and satisfaction.
Vietnam Airlines’ Executive Vice President, Dang Anh Tuan, expressed the airline’s dedication to fleet enhancement and expansion. He emphasized the importance of providing top-notch passenger experiences while fulfilling the airline’s mission of connecting Vietnam with the world to support economic and social development.
In line with their expansion plans, Vietnam Airlines announced the launch of direct flights between Hanoi and Phnom Penh starting on 27 October, utilizing an A321 aircraft. The service will operate four times a week, with flights departing from Hanoi on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday until 31 March 2025.
While the airline’s advance timetable showed that reservations for the new route were open last week, specific travel dates for November were not available on their website. However, a search on Skyscanner revealed booking options through Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) with a roundtrip fare of SGD238 for November travel dates. The winter timetable for the northern hemisphere is scheduled from 27 October 2024 to 31 March 2025.
Currently, the Hanoi-Phnom Penh route is exclusively serviced by Cambodia Angkor Air, offering daily flights using an A320 aircraft. Skyscanner quoted a roundtrip fare of SGD493 for this route. Vietnam Airlines’ Flight VN923 will depart from Hanoi at 1710 and arrive in Phnom Penh at 1905, while Flight VN922 will depart from Phnom Penh at 2000 and arrive in Hanoi at 2155, providing convenient travel options for passengers.
With the addition of new aircraft and routes, Vietnam Airlines is poised for continued growth and enhanced connectivity, solidifying its position as a leading airline in the region. Passengers can look forward to more options and seamless travel experiences as the airline expands its operations to serve a wider range of destinations.
