The recent election of President To Lam as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee has caught the attention of a Cuban scholar, who believes this decision highlights Lam’s contributions and reputation, as well as reaffirms the Party’s leadership. Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, Vice President of the Cuba – Vietnam Friendship Association, shared his insights in an interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
According to Dr. Ruvislei, President To Lam’s stance on external relations mirrors Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy, which prioritizes key factors in bilateral relations and emphasizes the importance of multilateral diplomacy. This approach aligns with Vietnam’s goal of fostering friendships with all nations while adhering to the “four no’s” policy. By continuing this policy, Vietnam can strengthen international trust in the smooth transition of power, thereby ensuring political stability and a favorable business environment.
Dr. Ruvislei also addressed the issue of corruption, recognizing it as a significant threat to the Vietnamese Party and its revolutionary efforts. He commended President To Lam’s unwavering commitment to combatting corruption, emphasizing the critical role of transparency in this ongoing battle.
In light of global challenges stemming from power conflicts and uncertainties, Dr. Ruvislei highlighted Vietnam’s potential for attracting substantial investments due to its evolving landscape and stability. He expressed confidence in Vietnam’s ability to achieve its development objectives and emerge as an upper-middle-income country, possibly ranking among the top 20 economies worldwide by 2035 or earlier.
As Vietnam navigates complex geopolitical dynamics and strives for economic growth, President To Lam’s leadership and the Party’s unwavering commitment to transparency and anti-corruption efforts will play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s future trajectory. Dr. Ruvislei’s insights underscore the significance of Vietnam’s political stability, international reputation, and economic prospects in the years to come.
