PGA Tour golfer Will Zalatoris has shared that he has finally reached the ball speeds he was hitting before his back surgery in 2022. Zalatoris had to withdraw from the 2023 Masters due to two herniated discs, which first became a problem during the 2022 BMW Championship. After undergoing a microdiscectomy in April 2023, he made a comeback at Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge last December, with varying results since then.

Although Zalatoris managed to tie for second at Riviera, he has struggled with missed cuts in major championships and has not placed in the top 40 in his last nine events. Additionally, he had to withdraw from the Rocket Mortgage Classic due to a hip issue that caused concern about his back. Fortunately, it was just a minor hip problem that he decided not to aggravate further.

Speaking to reporters before the Wyndham Championship, Zalatoris acknowledged the ups and downs of his recovery process, likening it to the stock market but expressing hope for a positive trend moving forward. Despite his challenges, he has secured a spot in the FedExCup playoffs and is currently ranked 45th, positioning him well for next year’s events.

Reflecting on his progress, Zalatoris expressed gratitude for regaining his speed with longer clubs, a significant advantage for him on the Tour as he surpasses 180 ball speed. While he is pleased with his current position compared to last year, he remains unsatisfied with his performance this season, striving for further improvement.

With the Wyndham Championship underway, Zalatoris aims to continue his momentum and build on his recent achievements. As he looks ahead to upcoming competitions, he is focused on maintaining his recovery and pushing himself to reach new heights in his golf career.
