We always get excited when classic NES / Famicom games suddenly appear on the Switch eShop without any warning. This time, two classic Jaleco games have been released on the hybrid console by publisher City Connection: Pinball Quest and Yokai Club, both developed by Tose.

For those who may not be familiar, Jaleco was a major player back in the days of the Famicom, releasing numerous console and arcade titles since 1982. After filing for bankruptcy in 2014, its assets were acquired by City Connection, leading to the re-release of these classic games on the Switch.

Pinball Quest is a unique game that combines pinball gameplay with RPG elements. The ‘RPG Mode’ consists of six stages, and this new version includes modern features like rewind, achievements, subtitles, and quick save. Players can also access a gallery feature to view scanned manuals and more.

On the other hand, Yokai Club is reminiscent of Castlevania, where players explore 2D side-scrolling environments and battle creepy ghosts and ghouls. Like Pinball Quest, Yokai Club also includes modern features to enhance the gaming experience and make the old-school challenge more enjoyable.

While some may not be fans of the UI in the screenshots of these games, it is possible to customize the experience and remove any distracting elements. Both titles are currently available for download at a slightly discounted price of $7.19 / £6.47 each.

If you’re a fan of retro Famicom games, these classic titles on the Switch may be worth checking out. Share your thoughts on these games in the comments below.
