James Moore, a reality TV star who gained fame on the show Ex on the Beach, has been cleared of rape charges by a judge. The judge stated that it would not be in the public interest to pursue the indecent images charges against Moore. The allegations against Moore included rape, revenge porn, indecent images, and drug-related offenses. However, after a trial at Preston Crown Court, Moore was acquitted of the rape charges.
Judge Andrews Jeffries KC asked the Crown Prosecution Service to consider whether it was necessary to continue pursuing the indecent images charges, given that Moore believed the woman who sent him the images was over 18. The woman had contacted Moore after seeing him on Ex on the Beach, and he made sure to confirm her age before engaging in any communication with her. She assured him that she was over 18 and sent him images of herself during their initial interactions. It was only later revealed that she was actually 15 years old.
The judge noted that Moore had acted in good faith based on the information he had been given by the woman. The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to proceed with the indecent images charges against Moore. Additionally, Moore was given an absolute discharge for the possession of cannabis and the charge of possession of ketamine was left to lie on file.
Despite the allegations and legal proceedings, Moore has been cleared of the most serious charges against him. The judge acknowledged Moore’s young age and good looks, as well as the circumstances that led to the charges being brought against him. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying the age of individuals in online interactions, especially when it comes to the exchange of sensitive content.
It is crucial for individuals to exercise caution and ensure that they are not inadvertently engaging in illegal activities, even if they believe they are acting in good faith. The case highlights the complexities of modern relationships and the potential legal consequences that can arise from misunderstandings and miscommunications.
