Arrowhead Studios recently released the largest update for Helldivers 2, called Enduring Freedom. However, the response from the player base has not been very positive. Despite a slight increase in player count on launch day, the numbers did not double as expected. The game peaked at 62,000 players on Steam, falling short of the previous day’s high of 38,000.
One of the main reasons for the negative feedback is the changes made to popular weapons and strategies in the game. Players are unhappy with Arrowhead’s decision to nerf fire-based weapons, including the flamethrower, which has affected many anti-bug loadouts. Some players believe that this was a tactic to encourage the purchase of the newly released fire-based warbond.
Criticism has also been directed towards Arrowhead for repeatedly nerfing popular strategies, especially in a PvE game where such changes may not be necessary. Many players find the higher levels of the game to be excessively difficult, and the introduction of a new level 10 difficulty has only added to their frustration.
Additionally, some players feel that the update did not bring significant changes to the game. While there were additions like two new enemy units per race, a new type of planet, and a few new outposts and objectives, players were hoping for something more substantial, like the introduction of a new alien race.
Overall, the Enduring Freedom update for Helldivers 2 has not met the expectations of many players. The negative reviews and lackluster increase in player count indicate that this may not be the most successful update for the game. It remains to be seen how Arrowhead Studios will address these concerns and if future updates will be more well-received by the community.
