So, picture this: no die-hard Manchester United fan wants to see a player get the boot when they still have their prime ahead of them. And that’s exactly where Alejandro Garnacho stands. In Erik ten Hag’s system, which was all about utilizing wingers, Garnacho was showing all the promise needed to break out of the academy and into the big leagues. But then comes the plot twist – Ten Hag says ‘adios’ in October, and in comes Ruben Amorim in November. And that’s where things start to go downhill for Garnacho.
Amad, on the other hand, manages to adjust his game and slot into Amorim’s system as one of his No.10s. But Garnacho? Not so much. The poor guy looks like a fish out of water when he’s pushed into the center of the pitch. The only other option was to stick him in as a wing-back, but let’s be real here – Garnacho is way too attack-minded and doesn’t quite have the defensive chops for that role.
So now, United’s got a bit of a pickle on their hands. Especially with the need to bring in some fresh faces this summer to match Amorim’s style of play. Ineos, the big bosses, can’t really afford to hang on to a player with high re-sale potential who just doesn’t quite fit the bill for the starting lineup. Amorim isn’t budging on his principles, so there’s no Plan B scenario here.
Selling players has never been United’s strong suit. Old Trafford is the dream destination, and the cushy pay doesn’t exactly make leaving all that appealing. But hey, Scott McTominay broke the mold last summer, so maybe there’s hope for Garnacho too.
After Garnacho put on a show for Barcelona in their recent match against Inter in the Champions League, he got showered with compliments. And get this – even Garnacho himself hopped on the congratulatory train, calling the guy he played against the “Best player in the world.” Now, that’s some high praise.
But here’s the kicker – Garnacho doesn’t have this undying loyalty to United that some might expect. He’s not afraid to mingle with players from other teams on social media. A far cry from the days of Roy Keane and Gary Neville, that’s for sure.
If Garnacho gets an offer from a new club, say Barcelona, he might just be willing to listen. Especially if Marcus Rashford ends up being too pricey for them. It might sting a bit at first, but selling Garnacho could actually be a game-changer for United in the long run.
