Nebraska Extension is hosting two drone conferences on Wednesday, Aug. 14 and Thursday, Aug. 15 at West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte, Nebraska. The purpose of these conferences is to explore the applications of drones in agriculture and specifically in the area of spray drones.

The 2nd Annual Drones in Agriculture Conference on Aug. 14 will feature Jonathan Rupprecht, Esq. of Rupprecht Law, P.A. as the keynote speaker. Rupprecht, a lawyer, commercial pilot, and flight instructor, will share his expertise on the legal aspects of unmanned aircraft systems. This conference will bring together experts and practitioners from Nebraska and around the world to discuss the latest developments in drone technology.

On Aug. 15, the 2nd Nebraska Spray Drone Conference will take place with Dr. Steve Li from Auburn University as the keynote speaker. Dr. Li is an associate professor and extension specialist of weed science, focusing on the use of spray drones in agriculture. Attendees will learn about the research being conducted to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of spray drones in crop management.

Both conferences will feature presenters from various organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration, Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Pix4D Agriculture, and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to see spray drone demonstrations by leading companies in the industry.

Registration for each conference is $150, or $250 for both days. Students and educators can apply for an educational discount, while businesses and organizations are invited to exhibit at the conferences for a fee of $500. Sponsorship opportunities are also available at different contribution levels to support the educational programming on drones.
