An alleged predator, Robert Emmerson, is accused of assaulting young women as they walked to school and university. Prosecutors claim that Emmerson exposed himself to eight women and sexually assaulted five others, with victims describing him as ‘smiling’ and ‘enjoying himself’ during the attacks. Most of the incidents took place in an underpass near Manchester Metropolitan University, with two additional offenses involving schoolgirls in the Wythenshawe area.

The trial, which began on October 14, revealed that multiple victims reported similar patterns of behavior by the attacker, including waiting on the path, masturbating, and grabbing victims in a bear hug before sexually assaulting them. The victims were able to escape and report the incidents to the police, leading to Emmerson’s eventual arrest on April 22, 2024. CCTV footage and victim identifications played a crucial role in linking Emmerson to the assaults.

Despite denying all charges, Emmerson faces allegations of exposing himself and assaulting young women. The prosecution argues that the evidence presented during the trial clearly points to Emmerson as the perpetrator. The trial is ongoing, with Emmerson represented by Joshua Bowker.

The disturbing nature of these assaults highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious behavior to the authorities. It is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of individuals, especially in public spaces where such incidents can occur. The bravery of the victims in coming forward and sharing their experiences serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking out against injustice and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
