The Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2024 is approaching, but pre-event flights have been suspended due to unsafe flying conditions caused by high winds. The community ascent scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled, with balloons typically ascending to heights of 2,000 ft (609m). This cancellation was part of the new “Fiesta Week” initiative, where hot air balloons visit various local communities.
Unfortunately, rain is forecasted for the upcoming days, making it unlikely for any more flights to take place before the main three-day event kicks off. While there is optimism about improving weather conditions as the week progresses, weather forecaster Ian Fergusson warns that the decision to launch the balloons will depend on the conditions each morning.
